Bad Romeo Review (reread)

My heart belongs to Ethan Holt.

Summary from Goodreads

When Cassie Taylor met Ethan Holt at acting school, sparks flew. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy about campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan’s romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time.

Cast as romantic leads once again, they’re forced to confront raw memories of the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their secret college affair. But they’ll also discover that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks

Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven  is one of my all time favorite books. Seriously. It’s up there with Colleen Hoover’s books.

My rating: Five stars. 21411058

I have mentioned this book on my blog before but I’ve never posted a full review. I read it for the first time in June of this year, before I had this blog. This month I’ve gone through a semi slump. I’ve been reading but every book I pick up, I find myself hating on every little detail. I decided to reread a favorite and I went for Bad Romeo. Important! This is the first book in Cassie and Ethan’s story! This book ends in a cliff hanger! The second book is called Broken Juliet! There is a third book called Wicked Heart but it is focused on different characters.

“I never realized how much it hurt to not be with you until I saw you again, and the pain went away.”

Everything about this book is wonderful. It has theatre, a funny main character that makes you laugh at least once every chapter, and, of course, second chance romance. If you haven’t already figured this out about me yet, I love second chance stories. Everything about them is amazing. Bad Romeo is no exception.

“You terrify me. But not enough to make me think you won’t be worth it.”

Bad Romeo is about two people, in two different times of their lives, and figuring out how to move on. The three years separating the two parts of this book creates the best story. There are so many parallels that are created in the writing. Ethan three years ago is the Cassie of today; hurting, scared of loving, and wanting to push the other away. While, Cassie of three years ago is the Ethan of today; supporting, craving the others love, and not letting the other push them away.

“Cassie … We’ve never been over. You know it as well as I do. Even when I was halfway around the world and you hated my guts, we weren’t over. You can feel it between us now. And the closer we are, the stronger it gets.”

The supporting characters are just as good as the main! They are all so well written and developed. You get a good sense of who every one is and are rooting for them all to be happy.

The hotness of this book is through the roof. Legit. I was reading some of this at school and I was worried that someone would read it over my shoulder and be like, “Sam why are you reading porn?” BUT ITS NOT PORN ITS BEAUTIFUL LOVE.

“He has one of those faces that stops you when you’re flipping through a magazine. Not textbook handsome, but mesmerizing. Like a book cover that begs you to flip it open and get lost in the story.”

Cassie is so relatable. In the beginning, she is desperate to fit in and for people to like her, so much so that she is never truly her self. Until she meets Ethan and he shows her that life is more than acting like someone you aren’t.

Ethan is so broken in the beginning and he is confused and scared, but during the three years apart from Cassie, he gets better. He wants to show Cassie that he’s changed but how can he do that when Cassie her self as changed?

“Nervous and calm at the same time. Crazy and serene. Feral and civilized. Having you near me makes me want to forget about all the crap we’ve been through and just…”

Another one of my book reading habits is putting tabs where my favorite parts are. I put a total of 200 tabs in this book. I have never, in my life, put that many tabs on one book before. My love for Bad Romeo is high.

Also this is going to be kind of spoilery so read with caution.( ETHAN HOLT FREAKING SENT HER 1,162 I LOVE YOUS, ONE FOR EVERY DAY HE WAS AWAY AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND ALSO HE DIDN’T HAVE SEX WITH ANY ONE FOR THREE YEARS BECAUSE HE ONLY WANTED CASSIE AND AHHHHHH)

“Sometimes people put up walls, not only to keep people out, but also to see who cares enough to tear them down. Understand?

Okay, I’m calm now but seriously everyone needs to read this. Especially if you like Colleen Hoover. (I found about this book because Colleen posted about it on her good reads! Thanks Colleen!)

Have I convinced you to read this yet?

Until next time, Sam.
